Apple Announces iPad Mini 3 With Touch ID Home Button, Gold Color Option


Yesterday at its media event in Cupertino, Apple announced the iPad mini 3 with Touch ID Home button and a new gold color option. These updates appear to be the only significant changes over the previous generation, with the new model continuing to use the A7 chip from the original Retina iPad mini.

Analyst: No iPad 12.9-inch "iPad Pro" Until 2015, this Year Just Updated iPad Air


New report from KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Apple may be preparing to introduce only an upgraded iPad Air in 2014 and will likely delay the release of the large sceen 12.9-inch ''iPad Pro'' and newer iPad mini until next year.

Retina iPad mini display shows poorer color accuracy than Apple's iPad Air


In contrast to the unit's otherwise impressive gains in resolution and performance, Apple has chosen to equip the new iPad mini with a display that features the same narrow color gamut as its non-Retina predecessor, as noted by Anandtech. The tablet was bested by Apple's fourth-generation iPad and new iPad Air, as well as Google's Nexus 7 and Nvidia's Tegra Note 7 in testing.

Teardown of Retina iPad Mini Reveals A7 Chip, LG Display, Larger Battery


The experts at iFixit have performed another one of their usual high-quality teardownson Apple's new iPad mini with Retina display, revealing that while the device is nearly unchanged visually from the original iPad mini, it features a number of internal upgrades such as an A7 chip and M7 motion coprocessor alongside the new high-resolution display.
